Hope everyone enjoyed themselves yesturday. & a happy 13th birthday to Jiahui:) 3 plus months of practice with FTP, all over in one night. For some of us, this may be our first concert. The PSB has come a long way. We have crossed so many hurdles to get where we are. Although we didn't have any sec.4s to help us, we showed that we could do as well without them. We also managed to do it because of the help & support from our teachers, conductors and alumni. Dil Se was made possible also because of each and every one of us too. Most of us have faithfully been attending band practice, just to work for our goal, Dil Se.
Now that it's over, it's time to relish those moments of sweating it out during sectionals & combined. All the sweat, pain and hard work has paid off. It's like baking a cake. You gather all the ingredients and prepare them, following whatever the cookbook says. The cookbook is Mr. Lim. We're the bakers. First comes the tough part of mixing up the ingredients, and shaping it onto the batter. Put it into the oven, and then we anticipate what it will taste like when it is done. After an hour, the smell comes out. The smell of the freshly baked cake makes you think all the hard work you've put in to making the cake is nothing. And then you eat the cake that you've so carefully prepared, and then you savour the experience. So band, now it's time to eat our cake & relax:D
But. After finishing the cake we can't go to sleep yet. There's still the recruitment of junior bakers. Which is, our next year Sec.1 batch. This time we will hold onto them tightly and not let them escape. This year was bad enough, with only 6 left from 25 in January! We will need much more than that. We need these juniors to take over our aging population. We cannot always depend on seniors and alumni to keep coming back every year, can we? I hope everyone will turn up for the last few practices this year, so this way everyone will be on the know and not rely on mouth to mouth. Attendance has been quite bad this year already, next year we shall do better. Our Sec.3s this year will be graduating in the middle of next year already, we wish them all the best in their O'levels. Our current Sec.2 batch shall stay strong and lead the band to greater heights.
Some of us may feel sad that we may not be combining with FTP anymore. It is quite an achievement that both schools are able to click well with each other in such a short period of time. Okay maybe there might be some disputes or disagreements now and then, but after all that we've been through it all doesn't seem to matter anymore. I'm not sure about other sections, but I am really proud of my section, everyone treated each other as their real seniors and juniors. Nobody cared whether you were from FTP or Peirce, when the FTP seniors gave presents to their FTP juniors they didn't leave us out too, and for that I was really touched. Quite amusing how we only start to treasure them only when we're about to part. Friendship doesn't come out of nothing, not combining doesn't mean we still can't keep in touch. I don't think anyone will forget the times we shared together, not as 2 different schools, but as one band.
Dil Se is our stepping stone to achieve more together as a band. There is always room for improvement. Let's work hard in the recruiting of Sec.1s next year, and train up their batch for the upcoming SYF in 2009. DILSE'o7!:D FRENCHHORNSROCKSTOO:D
