Hey peeps! Just want to encourage all of you to work hard for the upcoming events! National day's right around the corner and yet we've not begun our training for the National Anthem! So I do really hope that everyone will put in their own indivual effort to practice so that when we DO combine to play the song, we'll not be waiting for one another to figure out our individual parts..
In fact, can we all aim to make sure that whenever we receieve a new score, that we at least read through and solve all our rhythm and key signature problems so that we can move on to the more important aspects like the Expressions, Feelings, Emotions... I belive that we are all responsible musicians and that we'll all put in our best!
Lastly, I'd just want to point out once again, that every single one of you is an important part of the band. If for any reasons you are absent for a practice, be it for a valid reason.. The band still drops a standard for the band cannot move while some of it's players are still trying to catch up.. So I do hope that everyone practices self-responsibility to take care of yourselves and to ensure that you do make an effort to attend every single practice..
Peace out!!!

Congratulations to Peirce Symphonic Band for attaining an 83.6%, which is a GOLD, for the National Band Competition. We were 1.4% away from a Gold with Distinction. Not forgetting the months of practice that we've had to reach this stage. Give yourself a pat on the back. We have MANYMANY people we have to thank. Mr Lim, who has been sacrificing most of his time to be with us this week, even though he has 4 other schools to take care of. Our teachers who've been helping us get keys and open rooms, sometimes even being in trouble for that. Our alumNUS who've been patiently returning back to help and guide us. Cheers to the fantastic banquet we've been promised by our beloved Mrs Chung. However remember not to get complacent. We still have an even bigger competition coming up which is the SYF 2009. FOCUS, guys. This is just the beginning. Expect more to be coming up. For now and the following week, we shall savour the fruit of our labour. Yes? :D OH and just to add that we're really proud of our Sec ones. :) More information on our playing today will be posted soon. And PICTURES.

Hey band, just like to remind everyone about the importance of TOMORROW. All our years of practice and effort, to be shown in the competition through our pieces. It doesn't matter if you're a Sec.3 or Sec.2 or Sec.1, we are ONE BAND. We won't be graded according to one person's playing, it is being graded as a group. All the more we should take note of the little things. Little things like your rhythmn, tone, tune, style are BIG things. For Aquarium and Flag of Glory, remember to COUNT. Don't rely on others, well you can, but rely 50% on them and 50% on yourself. Remember the snowball effect? Where mistakes start accumalating from a tiny ball to a humongous snowball. Remember to put tone over volume! It's no use blasting and spoiling your tone just to sound loud. There are a hundred more things we can say but we have to DO them to make things work. (Right now, you should really be reading your scores and singing them in your head.)
All the best for tomorrow, drink lots of water and get lots of rest. Fall in tmr at 7:45am, PE attire. Bring along your speech day attire, including red tie. 14 hours to NBC.
