Faust or Faustus .

So Faust is actually a protagonist of a classic German legend. One who makes a pact with the Devil in exchange for knowledge and Faust's tale have been used in many literary, artistic and musical works.

The meaning of the word is often used to describe someone who have a headstrong desire for self-fulfillment which often leads him or her to a diabolical direction.

So in another words it actually means that when one have a high level of expectation and is often obstinate or stubborn, they will tend to come up with wicked plots to get what they want.
